How to look for clinical trials for your condition
Start by asking your treating doctor or your hospital's research team. Public study registers can also help you look by condition and location. A listing is not a recommendation, and a study marked as recruiting may not have a place available at your nearest hospital.
Before contacting a study, check its location, whether it is accepting participants, who can join and the number of visits. Read the informed consent guide before making a decision.
Finding a study is only the first step
There may not be an available study for your condition in your area. Each study has its own rules about who can join. Only the study team can confirm whether you can take part, after checking your medical history and any required tests.
Discuss any possible study with your treating doctor. Joining is always your choice, and a study treatment may not benefit you.
If travel is needed, ask the consultant what costs may be reimbursed. Do not assume travel or accommodation will be covered.
